چکیده

Parameters and/or processes responsible for the stability of catalyst supports and ceramic membranes are discussed. Two major parameters/processes were identified which are responsible for the stabiliv of sol-gel derived nanostmctured oxides at elevated temperatures. They are metastable-to-stable phase transformation and structure and packing of primary particles within the aggregate. Based on these obseruatwns, strategies to develop thermostable nanostmctured oxides for high-temperature membrane and catalyst applications are discussed by taking titania and titania-alumina nanocomposites as examples.

Gas Separation Properties of Polyimide Thin Films on Ceramic Supports for High Temperature Applications

Novel selective ceramic-supported thin polyimide films produced in a single dip coating step are proposed for membrane applications at elevated temperatures. Layers of the polyimides P84®, Matrimid 5218®, and 6FDA-6FpDA were successfully deposited onto porous alumina supports. In order to tackle the poor compatibility between ceramic support and polymer, and to get defect-free thin films, the e...

Synthesis and characterization of α-Alumina membrane supports and the binding effect of Poly (Vinyl Alcohol)

Ceramic Ultrafiltration membranes are considered as an alternative for the treatment of both stable water-in-oil and oil-in-water emulsions proved to be more effective in comparison with other conventional techniques. In this study, symmetric macro-porous ceramic membranes are prepared through dry pressing of α-alumina powder and the addition of various binders including Poly (vinyl alcohol). T...

Characterization of Commercial Ceramic and Hybrid Membranes Using Gas Permeation and Permporometry Tests

The gas separation performance of commercial ceramic Titania and hybrid silica (HybSi®) membranes was assessed using the gas permeation and permporometry methods. Results indicated that the HybSi® membranes have a hybrid surface containing regions covered by a polymeric matrix and others with inorganic pores. These membranes have high H2 selectivity, which incre...

PREPARATION OF NANO PORE MORDENITE MEMBRANES

Abstract: Nano pore Mordenite membranes were prepared on the outer surface of ceramic tubular tubes via hydrothermal synthesis and evaluated for dehydration pervaporation of water unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine UDMH mixtures. Highly water-selective mordenite membranes were prepared and the optimum reaction condition was found to be 24 h crystallization time and 170 °C crystallization temperatu...
